The Centre started 20 years ago. It has a wide catchment area. The Centre is a specialist unit in the voluntary sector catering for people with all types of dementia, all age groups and the only one of its kind in this area. The Centre caters for 45 people per week. There is always a waiting list. People with dementia are referred for day care and other forms of support. The following make referrals: CPN's, Social Work Teams in Livingston, Bathgate and Broxburn, Local Primary Health Care Teams, Voluntary Organisations and Westpark Day Hospital. The Scottish Executive and West Lothian Council fund the Centre.

Our Vision-

We believe that every individual has a right to control their own life and to share in the opportunities, enjoyment, challenges and responsiblities of everyday life. We believe that care and concern for each and every person and respect for their human rights is central to any caring community. We believe that the needs of people with mental health problems and other disabilities should be raised at local and national level and that attitude towards them by society, as a whole should be improved.

Programmes and Activities-

This is activity led and focuses on the individual needs of clients. Main objective of day care is to facilitate social interaction and stimulation but also provide carer respite. The aim is to provide a homely, domestic environment. At the end of the day, volunteers and staff meet together to reflect on the day, specifically focusing on concentration, interaction, participation, memory and appetite.
